Why Filipino Players Keep Coming Back to Sweet Bonanza
Ask around any group of slot fans in Manila, Cebu or Davao and Sweet Bonanza will come up sooner or later. The candyland game from Pragmatic Play first appeared in 2019 and has never really left the top of the charts. Its bright sweets, cotton-candy clouds and falling fruit look playful, yet the maths behind it is serious: during free spins, candy bombs worth up to 100x can multiply a win many times over, and the best possible result is 21,100x the stake.
The game also launched a whole series. Sweet Bonanza 1000, Super Scatter and 2500 all build on the same idea, and we review each of them on this site. On this page we focus on the original, explained with peso examples, and we bust a few popular myths along the way.

The Rule of Eight: How Wins Are Counted
Classic slots pay along lines from left to right. Sweet Bonanza throws that idea away. Its playing field has 6 reels and 5 rows, thirty positions in total, and the only thing that matters is how many copies of a symbol are visible. Eight or more of the same kind anywhere on the field form a winning group. They do not have to touch, sit on the same row or start on the first reel.
This scatter-pays approach is why the game feels so different from older fruit machines. You stop scanning for lines and simply watch the colours pile up.
Paytable in Pesos
There are nine standard symbols. Fruit sits at the lower end: banana, grapes, watermelon, plum and apple. Candy fills the premium slots: blue, green and purple sweets, with the red heart as the best-paying symbol of all. Payouts depend on how big the group is.
| Symbol | 8–9 | 10–11 | 12+ |
|---|---|---|---|
| Red heart | 10x | 25x | 50x |
| Purple candy | 2.5x | 10x | 25x |
| Green candy | 2x | 5x | 15x |
| Blue candy | 1.5x | 2x | 12x |
| Apple | 1x | 1.5x | 10x |
| Plum | 0.8x | 1.2x | 8x |
| Watermelon | 0.5x | 1x | 5x |
| Grapes | 0.4x | 0.9x | 4x |
| Banana | 0.25x | 0.75x | 2x |
The figures are multiples of the bet. With ₱20 per spin, twelve red hearts are worth ₱1,000, eight purple candies bring ₱50, and eight bananas give back only ₱5. The big money is always in the right-hand column.

You will not find a wild here. The special symbol is the lollipop scatter, which pays by itself and opens the bonus round. More on that below.
Cascades That Keep Paying
Pragmatic Play calls it the tumble feature. As soon as a group pays, those symbols burst and leave empty spaces. The remaining symbols drop down, new ones fall in from above, and the field is evaluated again. A fresh group of eight means another payout, followed by another cascade. It only stops when nothing new lines up.
So a single ₱20 spin might pay for watermelons, then for green candies after the first cascade, then for bananas after the second. The stake is taken once, but the wins can stack. Many spins, of course, end with no cascade at all.
The Lollipop Scatter and the Free Spins Round
Four or more lollipops anywhere on the field start the bonus: 10 free spins. The lollipops also pay immediately, 3x for four, 5x for five and 100x for six. At ₱20 per spin, six lollipops alone are worth ₱2,000 before a single free spin has been played. Catch three or more lollipops during the round and you get 5 extra spins, which can happen repeatedly.
Candy Bombs Explained
Bombs are the reason people chase the bonus. They appear only in free spins, each one showing a multiplier between 2x and 100x. Once a bomb lands, it stays put until the whole cascade sequence has finished. At that point every bomb value on the field is added up, and the combined number multiplies the total won in that sequence. A sequence with no win means the bombs vanish and do nothing.
A quick peso example: at ₱20 a spin, a cascade sequence collects 3x, which is ₱60. Three bombs are on the field showing 10x, 20x and 50x. Added together they make 80x, so the sequence pays ₱60 × 80 = ₱4,800, or 240 times the bet.

Double Chance and Buying the Feature
Next to the reels you will see a switch labelled for double chance. Leave it off and your stake can go from 0.20 up to 100, with the option to buy free spins for 100 times the bet. On a ₱20 spin that means paying ₱2,000 for instant access to the round.
Switch it on and every spin costs 25% more, so ₱20 becomes ₱25. In exchange, the reels carry more lollipops and your chance of reaching free spins doubles. You cannot buy the feature while double chance is active. Which route is better is a personal choice, and the demo lets you try both for free.
A Note on RTP
For the original Sweet Bonanza, the RTP is not one fixed number. It depends on which version the platform has installed, and the correct figure appears inside the game rules. Open the info screen before you bet real pesos and read it there.
Five Sweet Bonanza Myths, Busted
- "The slot is due to pay after a long losing run." False. Each spin is independent, and past results do not change the next one.
- "Bombs can drop in the base game." Not in the original. Multiplier bombs exist only inside free spins.
- "A bigger bet makes the bonus come sooner." No. The stake changes how much you win or lose, not how often lollipops land. Only double chance changes the odds, and it costs 25% extra.
- "Every bonus pays hundreds of times the bet." The viral clips are the exceptions. A normal feature pays a few bets to a few dozen, and sometimes less than the 100x buy price.
- "There is a secret system." There is none. You can control your budget, not the outcome.

| What stands out | the original | 1000x bombs, Super Free Spins | super scatters up to 50,000x | 2500x bombs, Ante Bets, Super Spin |
If you like the original but want bigger bombs, Sweet Bonanza 1000 raises them to 1000x and sells a Super Free Spins round where no bomb is below 20x. Super Scatter keeps the bombs at 100x but adds special lollipops that pay up to 50,000x instantly when they help trigger the bonus. Sweet Bonanza 2500 is the most customisable, with bombs up to 2500x, two Ante Bet options, two Super Spin modes and three feature buys.
Built for Mobile
Most players in the Philippines play on their phones, and Sweet Bonanza is designed with that in mind. It runs in HTML5 inside any mobile browser, so there is no APK or app to install and no storage space to free up. Rotate the phone to landscape and the whole field, plus the stake controls, fits neatly on screen. It works the same on a budget Android as on a new iPhone.
Free Demo in Philippine Pesos
The demo at the top of the page is the real game from Pragmatic Play, set to pesos and loaded with virtual credits. Cascades, lollipops, bombs and the feature buy all behave exactly as they would with real money, and you do not have to sign up. Our dedicated Sweet Bonanza demo in pesos page explains how to get the most out of it.
From Demo to Real Pesos
- Play the demo until the rules feel natural.
- Choose a platform in the Where to play section and register.
- Deposit pesos and decide whether to use the welcome offer.
- Look for Sweet Bonanza under Pragmatic Play and start with a low stake.
If you take a welcome bonus, read the wagering rules first: how many times it must be played through, the largest bet allowed and which games count.
Keeping It Fun
Decide on a peso amount for the session before you open the game, and stop when it is gone. With ₱1,000 set aside, a stake of ₱5 to ₱10 gives you room for hundreds of spins while you wait for the lollipops. Take breaks, never try to win back losses with bigger bets, and treat any win as a bonus rather than a plan. Sweet Bonanza is at its best when it stays what it was made to be: a colourful, lively game to enjoy now and then.
Questions and answers
Is there a free Sweet Bonanza demo in pesos?
Yes. The demo on this page comes from Pragmatic Play, shows the balance in Philippine pesos and needs no registration or deposit.
How much can you win in Sweet Bonanza?
Up to 21,100x the bet in the original. The 1000 and 2500 editions go up to 25,000x and Super Scatter up to 50,000x.
How many lollipops trigger the bonus?
Four or more anywhere on the field. That gives 10 free spins, and 3 lollipops during the round add 5 more.
Do multiplier bombs appear outside free spins?
No. In the original game the bombs only appear during the free spins round.
What happens to the bombs at the end of a cascade?
Their values are added together and the total multiplies the win of that cascade sequence. Without a win they have no effect.

Can I use a strategy to beat Sweet Bonanza?
No. Every spin is random. The only things you control are your budget and which version you play.
